Funeral
|
A
funeral marks the close of a human life on earth. It is the opportunity
for friends and family to express their grief, to give thanks for the
life which has now completed its journey in this world and to commend
the person into God's keeping.
|
|
Relatives of anyone who
has died in any of the four parishes in the Benefice are entitled – and
welcome – to have the funeral in the parish church, or to ask for a
member of the team to take the funeral at a crematorium. We have a
number of clergy and readers who are available to help you with the
funeral. We regularly take funerals in the four churches
and in the local crematoria and as soon as we are approached by the
undertakers we will make contact with the family to make arrangements.
We normally come and visit the family in their home and spend time
hearing about the deceased and their and the family’s wishes.
We try to help the family in their grieving, make the
arrangements for the funeral and choose hymns and readings if desired.
We conduct the service and usually give a short tribute about the
deceased. |
|
Every year we have a memorial service to
which we invite all who have been bereaved in the past year. This is
called the “Rose Service” and many have found it a helpful time. Our
Rose Service this year will be in May. |
